Growing up with sensitive, acne-prone skin, I was constantly told the same thing: hydrate your skin.
So I did. Body creams became part of my daily routine.

But instead of comfort, many of them left my skin irritated, or still feeling dry.
They promised “24-hour hydration”, yet when I looked closely at the ingredient lists, most formulas were mainly water, stabilisers and preservatives.

They hydrated the surface but never truly nourished my skin.
At one point, I even started believing the problem was me. Maybe my skin was simply too difficult. That's when I started feeling insecure about my skin.

Everything changed after a conversation with a friend about endocrine disruptors in cosmetics. It pushed me to look more carefully at what was actually inside the products I was using.

I noticed that many creams claimed to be “with shea butter”, yet the ingredient itself appeared in tiny amounts.

And yet, shea butter was something I had known since childhood.
Although I was born in Paris, my West African roots meant that shea butter had always been part of my environment a traditional ingredient used for generations to nourish and protect the skin.

Somewhere along the way, I had forgotten its power.

When I began looking deeper into its properties, I realised something simple but powerful:
ingredients that truly nourish the skin do not need to be diluted

After yet another episode of irritation, dryness and breakouts caused by conventional creams, I decided to create something different a body butter built around ingredients that genuinely nourish the skin.
During a trip to West Africa, I watched my aunt soften solid shea butter into a lighter, almost whipped texture with her hand.
That moment inspired the idea of transforming traditional ingredients into a modern, sensory skincare ritual.

That idea became Slather! Beauty.
